PAULO COELHO
Therapy is an investment in your own self care and the therapeutic relationship can provide the ideal environment for self exploration and sorting things out. I draw from many therapeutic traditions and tailor my approach to each client's unique needs.
Welcome to my practice! Investing in therapy is a courageous act of self-care. I welcome the opportunity to partner with you in your journey and invite you to consider taking an important step towards your own personal development. Just like a book, our lives include many chapters that contain various themes, events, relationships, ups and downs, beginnings and endings.
The complexities of our world today can leave you feeling pulled in so many different directions, leaving little time and space for reflection and self-care. I firmly believe in the mind-body connection and emphasize a holistic approach to treatment, which maintains that there are many paths to healing and looks at problems and symptoms from different perspectives. I favor a model of therapy which views problems as stemming from unresolved experiences and conflicts that are rooted in important relationships from our past. During therapy, we will uncover long-standing behavior patterns, perceptions, and feelings that may be limiting you from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
I grew up in small town Kentucky but have lived in the Atlanta area since 1998. I’m a humanitarian and lover of nature and animals. In my leisure time I especially enjoy spending time in nature. My time with nature inspires many healing and useful metaphors in my work with clients as nature is healing in and of itself. I also enjoy traveling because I feel the value of different people, places and things cannot be underestimated with regards to my own personal growth. I have a very personal respect for diversity and enjoy working with clients from all backgrounds. Therapy is a place to explore the complexities of diversity in a rich and meaningful way. I seek to understand and to provide an environment of mutual respect and trust.
The first session is not a commitment to therapy, but rather an information-gathering session which will give us the opportunity to explore what is troubling you. It is also an opportunity to clarify the issue that has brought you to therapy at this time and to decide whether you want to go ahead on a regular basis with psychotherapy. This process may take more than one session. It is important, before making a commitment, that you feel therapy is right for you. If you have doubts about our being a good match, I will provide you with an appropriate referral to someone else. After a mutual decision that we can work together we would then discuss issues such as length of treatment and frequency of therapy (once a week, every two-weeks, etc.).
